For this challenging tunneling assignment, Kleinberg Electric undertook the creation and completion of a five-mile tunnel along Manhattan’s 10th Avenue; a segment of the New York City Water Tunnel #3. It was the largest capital construction project in state history with a total cost estimate of $6 billion over a 50-year time frame. Kleinberg’s scope of work was vast, including digging nine 700-foot-deep shafts, installing a 13.8 KV substation to power up the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), and the installation of multiple 3000 Amp low-tension services for construction support of the various shafts. The assignment was completed over the course of 72 months, and was performed for Schiavone, Frontier-Kemper, Shea, JV.

Under the 312G contract, Kleinberg Electric facilitated the installation of various control panels, variable frequency drives and control instrumentation for the Croton Water Treatment Facility, located at the Mosholu Golf Course. The general contractor was Skanska/Tully, JV. Under the 312H contract, Kleinberg Electric facilitated the installation of fire dampers and controls, variable frequency drives and additional control instrumentation for the Croton Water Treatment Facility, located at the Mosholu Golf Course. The general contractor was Durr Mechanical Construction.
